Question - I have received an error message COOD11E2(or something similar), and/or the media may not play, or you cannot obtain a new license. Additionally, you may receive any one of the following error messages: -----The licenses for your media files are corrupted. (Error code 0xC00D2754) -----Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the associated license is either corrupted or not valid. (Error code 0xC00D11D6) ----The license to play the packaged media is invalid -----C00D277F - Secure storage protection error. Restore your licenses from a previous backup and try again
Answer - This is a fairly common issue with the Windows DRM. Here are the steps to take to fix it.
There are two possible fixes to this issue. Try this first if you are using Windows XP (If using Vista-see below in Part 2.):
1. CLOSE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and right click this link and choose "Save Target As..." and save to your desktop. Once saved, close Internet Explorer and double click the program. You will most likely just see a window flash on the screen or see nothing at all. Don't worry, that is how it works. Now open up the Weekly Wisdom Schedule page (wwschedule.aspx) and attempt to play the video again. You should get a message to upgrade security components. Click Upgrade or OK and you should be good to go. If you encounter errors, you may need to get more in depth and manually perform the upgrade as instructed below in Part 2.
PART 2-do this if the above did not work, or you are running Windows Vista
1. CLOSE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and open this link in Internet Explorer (not Firefox or any other browser, it must be Internet Explorer!):
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
2. From here you should be able to click on the "Upgrade" button. This should fix the problem. (go back to wwschedule.aspx and open the video!) If the upgrade button is greyed, continue with step 3.
3. If the upgrade button is greyed out and you can't click it then do the following:
Locate the DRM folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users. (in Vista it is located in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM\)
If you don't see a DRM folder, it may be hidden.
To show hidden files, she should go to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users" click on Tools -> Folder Options, select View and select Show hidden files and folders.
4. Delete or rename the DRM folder to something like DRMold.
5. Go back to http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp (if the page was already open, close your browser and re-open it to visit the link) and click the upgrade button. This should fix the problem. (When finished, go back to wwschedule.aspx and open the video!)
If the upgrade button is still greyed, continue with step 6.
6. If it is still greyed out, you may need to enable Active X if you haven't done so, follow the steps below.
Open Internet Explorer (not FireFox or any other browser-it won't work if you do)
1. Click on Tools menu 2. Click Internet Options 3. Click on the "Security" tab 4. Click on the "Custom Level..." button 5. Optimally you want to set the first five options under "ActiveX controls as follows (the three marked for "Enable or Prompt" must be set to one of those): - Download signed ActiveX: Enable - Download unsigned ActiveX: Disable - Initialize and Script AxtiveX controls not marked as safe: Disable - Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Enable - Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting: Enable 6. Scroll down until you see the section labeled "Scripting" - set all 3 options under that section (Active Scripting, Allow paste operations via script, and Scripting of Java applets) to either "Enable" 7.Click the "OK" button twice to save settings and close the Internet Options dialog box. 8.Close Internet Explorer, re-open, and go back to this link: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp
Now you should be able to upgrade.
Once that is complete, go to wwschedule.aspx and open the video. You should be good to go, and you won't have to go through all this next week! (unless you change your system...)
In addition, if you are receiveing error C00D11B1 and getting a message about your soundcard or device upgrade, and the previous didn't solve your issue, try the following: Open their WMP, click on Tools, then click on Options, then click on Devices, when the devices appear in the box, click on Speakers, then Advanced, then make sure that the default audio driver/device is chosen".
There are some rare cases with Windows Vista running on non Vista compliant machines where DRM will malfunction. |
