Purgatory is a docrine of the faith. It is not optional teaching, even less a mere theological opinion. Purgatory is the final purification. Porgatory is the great mercy of God. Without it, those less than perfect would have only Hell. The good news is that all who pass through Purgatory go to Heaven.
